The brief was to create extra ground floor living space, using the outside area running adjacent to the kitchen. As with many Victorian terraced and semi-detached houses, this side return is often a wasted area with little beneficial use.
The most popular way to utilise this space, is to extend it to create an open plan kitchen, dining and family area. This provides a sociable room for a growing family, where cooking, eating and relaxing, can all be enjoyed together.
This property benefited from a wider space, which enabled the owners to include a stunning kitchen island. I provided two design layouts and the client chose a middle kitchen, which allowed space for a living area at the rear.
